In our view, starting immediately with a programme of requirements would, in this case, not lead to fertile frameworks for the development of a space that would become ABN AMRO's centre and showcase for innovation. In a one-day session, ABN AMRO stakeholders brainstormed under our supervision about what innovation means for the bank and what it means in terms of accommodation.
Designers then translated the results of this brainstorming session (the 'ambition') into a sketch plan, after which the design, tendering and implementation processes were carried out in the more usual manner.
- The development of the program and the design of the space ran parallel to the development of the organization component and the primary processes
- The formal approval processes, particularly with regard to purchasing, made it necessary to work closely with the ABN AMRO purchasing organisation in order to deliver the project on time and with the desired quality
