AMS1 Data Centre, Amsterdam

In April 2020 the AMS1 Data Centre in Amsterdam has been completed successfully. Phase two of the project took place in record time, adding 12 MW of capacity across more than 3,600 m2 of data rooms, in just nine months. The Drees & Sommer Netherlands team contributed to the technical implementation of this second phase. Unlike an office building, a data centre has a major emphasis on technology. It needs to have an extensive power supply system and emergency backup power, as well as cooling and air conditioning systems. A data centre must be reliable as well, so after a long period of preparation, the final two months of the project were dedicated to testing each individual system, bringing the project to a satisfactory close.
